We spent a month in Airlie Beach near the Whitsunday Islands, and did dive courses during that time. Kerstin did her Open Water 1 and I did the Divemaster course. Both of us ended our courses on a 3-day trip to the Great Barrier Reef. A good time was had by all.
...but first you gotta spend a few days in the pool.
Oceana Dive have a pretty nice boat for our three days at sea.
My Instructor, Shane Christie, doing what he does best: opening his mouth and being the centre of attention ;-)
The bright shiny faces of the Open Water Candidates
Dive Buddies!
Corley takes a break from all the pressure!
Everyone studying hard on the top deck - ?
Ahh, the rigours of diving - gearing up, jumping in, being towed in and out, climbing aboard, gearing down, helping each other out, and don't forget to sign the logbook!!!
And then suddenly, after all our hard work and determination, come the awards. This is my Divemaster group - a fine bunch of lads from... South Africa, Ireland, Singapore, Australia of course, and me - not sure
Astrid congratulates all the successful Open Water Candidates. Nice job Schatz!
Now everyone can relax and enjoy a bit of social bonding. Just remember, we still have a morning dive tomorrow at sunrise.
Of course once we've reached home safely, there must be drinking and silly games.
What happened after hours, perhaps we'd rather not know! ;-)
