I lived in New Zealand from 1992 to 1998 and have made the effort to visit many of its most beautiful places.  Since I left and started travelling more intensively, I have still to find a country which offers so much abundant and diverse natural beauty in such compact proximity.   Considering it is such a beautiful and special place, I don't have enough pictures here to do it justice -- yet...
The best time to visit is usually from mid-January, when school holidays are finished, until March or April when the weather usually falls apart.  Most of the rest of the year New Zealand can be a very wet place indeed, but this is why it's so green and lush.  Many people from the other end of the world do a combined trip with Australia, and most that I talk to wish they had given New Zealand more of their time.  I often had the feeling of living in a national park, with Auckland being the only city of any real magnitude, and the rest of the country remaining lightly populated and relaxed like no other.  Many of the "down-country" dwellers regard Auckland with contempt, and say that "New Zealand starts at the Bombays", referring to the Bombay Hills just south of the city.  Still, there is a lot to see north of Auckland as well, and I persoanlly think Auckland - only a decade ago a pretty drab looking place - has evolved into one of the more attractive and happening cities of the Pacific Rim.
I have only a few sample images of New Zealand here at this time, as more of my focus has been on other places since I started building the website, but I hope to add more when I get time for it - sometime in this life hopefully!  Enjoy!
